At every moment new and more sophisticated concepts emerge that we must be aware of and embrace in order to take advantage of all their potentialities. At a time when a new year is beginning, what to expect when it comes to technology trends?<\/p> \n \n

IDC<\/a> points to an acceleration of the global economy, predicting that by 2022, 65% of GDP will be digitised, implying an investment in technology of over \u20ac6 trillion by 2023.<\/p> \n \n

Due to the pandemic, the last two years have been marked by a lot of resilience and ability to reinvent themselves by companies adapting business models, creating new digital-centric offerings and connecting and empowering their talent to be able to work from anywhere. But innovation can’t stop<\/a> and there’s still plenty we can leverage to be more agile and productive on a daily basis. Here are the technology trends we highlight for the next 12 months:<\/p> \n \n

#1 Intelligence Centric Decision Making<\/strong><\/p> \n \n

According to Gartner<\/a> data, by 2023 more than a third of large organisations will have already opted to implement decision intelligence models. In this way, they use technology to understand and structure decision making in a more effective way, encompassing data integration, analytical models and platforms that support, automate and continuously improve the process.<\/p> \n \n

#2 Hyper-automation<\/strong><\/p> \n \n

The ever-increasing need for digitalisation and the pursuit of operational excellence have led organisations to increasingly look to hyper-automation. By 2022, Gartner speaks of a clear trend in this area and the superior performance of businesses that automate as many processes as possible. The concept combines robotic process automation (RPA) and artificial intelligence (AI).<\/p> \n \n

#3 Rise of quantum computing<\/strong><\/p> \n \n

With many aspects already consolidated, next year and the following ones will be the years of quantum technology. Indeed, the exponential increase in computing power made possible by this technology is opening up a world of opportunities around almost every aspect of modern life, whether in finance, the military, medical research or pharmaceuticals. However, it also brings with it strong threats, as this capacity allows encryptions as we know them today to be quickly broken, exposing Governments and organisations to violation of their information. The answer involves solutions that enable communications security with quantum-safe technology – a reality that already exists in Portugal<\/a> and where Warpcom was a pioneer.<\/p> \n \n

#4 Smart Cities<\/strong><\/p> \n \n

Interrupted by several municipalities as a result of the pandemic, this investment is back at the top of the priorities in 2022 throughout the country and also worldwide. Smart Cities<\/a> are associated with cutting-edge technologies that ensure greater and better organisation of socio-environmental dynamics, optimising resources and improving the experience of those who live, visit or work in a given city.<\/p> \n \n

#5 Wi-Fi 6 and 5G<\/strong><\/p> \n \n

Throughout 2022 we will see further proliferation of Wi-Fi 6 and 5G<\/a>. Very different from other generations, 5G proposes a much faster connection and with much lower latency. On the other hand, Wi-Fi 6 represents a giant step forward in the way the networking ecosystem serves the requirements of its users. The increased need for flexibility and mobility will be addressed by these two technologies through seamless and uninterrupted connectivity in and out of range of local networks.<\/p> \n \n

#6 High-capacity, high-performance data centers<\/strong><\/p> \n \n

Data centers are seen as the foundation of the entire value chain of the digital economy. Information continues to grow exponentially and must be accompanied by an infrastructure capable of storing it securely, reliably, and with maximum performance.<\/a> By 2022 this is a reality that is expected to become even more robust, with automation and scalability being key requirements. In addition to these concepts, there is a fourth that is gaining weight on the world stage: the growing concern with sustainability and environmental protection, which should dominate the strategies adopted.<\/p> \n \n

#7 Cybersecurity<\/strong><\/p> \n \n

As remote working and online collaboration intensified, the cloud became a fundamental tool in any company, and its adoption was a determining factor for companies to ensure business continuity. However, the rapid migration to the cloud has introduced several security<\/a> challenges. In 2022, the focus in this area needs to become even more relevant as all this is coupled with increasingly frequent and sophisticated attacks.<\/p> \n \n

#8 Workplace of the future<\/strong><\/p> \n \n

According to everything we have experienced and learned in the last few years, we can state that the work model of the future is hybrid. With equipment, tools, and collaboration platforms<\/a> that allow you to have the same performance, interaction, and motivation regardless of “where”. Again, security is key, as the perimeter is no longer confined to the walls of an office, which challenges the protection of organizations.<\/p> \n \n

#9 Total experience<\/strong><\/p> \n \n

According to Gartner, total experience is a strategy that integrates employee, customer, user and multi-experience across<\/a> multiple touchpoints to accelerate growth. Thus, greater trust, satisfaction, and customer and employee loyalty are generated through holistic management of the experiences of the different stakeholders.<\/p> \n \n
